Shopping in Nolita, NYC

I'm always asked the question, "where do you shop?" to which my response is always, "everywhere. "

Let me give you a better idea of what everywhere means by taking you through the different neighborhoods of the city and pointing you to some gems that I have come across and personally love from my spontaneous city wanderings.

Today we are walking Nolita and we are focusing on clothes.

MULBERRY STREET

Armor Lux / 232 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 917-261-5567
You can find some iconic breton striped tees and sweaters here. But I tend to gravitate towards the Stutterheims and the Grundens at this store. They're also one of the rarer stores that carry Samuji, a brand I have been on the look out for.

Convicts (B SPACE) / 219 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 646-429-9898
Located right next to Ruby's, the delicious Australian joint, B SPACE, now referred to as Convicts, adds on to what I call the little Australian corner. I go here when I need my dose of Australian brands, ie. One Teaspoon, the Fifth, Zanerobe, Ksubi, etc.

NFP studio / 215 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-775-8000
I only recently discovered this place. It's called NFP for New Form & Perspective, a knitwear line where each garment can be worn multiple ways,
ie. a sweater that turns into a skirt, or a vest, and so on. It's still fairly new, but an idea worth venturing into.

Malia Mills / 199 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-625-2311
They carry good basics from brands like Organic by John Patrick and  Demylee, but apart from that I just really like their hat assortment (hats by Alessandra Rivera, Helen Kaminski and Tracy Watts).

A Detacher / 185 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-625-3380
This store is very warm and cozy, you feel like you're entering into someone's home. It's a scented space with crafty things like artisan bowls and knitted accessories scattered throughout the store in addition to the rich garments, mostly knitted or oversized, hanging on the back rail. Make sure to take note of the accessories here. I'm a fan of their thin leather belts and knit socks.

Creatures of Comfort / 205 Mulberry Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-925-1005
This spacious store houses everything funky from shoes by Robert Clergerie to tunics by Y's to the many mysterious silhouettes of the Creatures of Comfort line itself. I like to visit this store from time to time because they're always full of surprises.

mott street

Otte / 281 Mott Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-925-0200
Otte houses a variety of brands. The assortment ranges from J Brand jeans to One teaspoon denim, Organic by John Patrick to ATM, Margaux Launberg to See by Chloe, ALC to BLK DNM. I like to pop my head in once in a while to see what's going on.

Coclico / 275 Mott Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-965-5462
I like their oxford silhouette because it's not too narrow or wide. I recently got a pair of their "Hima flat." They're very comfortable and versatile.

Resurrection / 217 Mott Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-625-1374
It's a consignment shop full of designer pieces from the 50's and 60's. I'm not much of a thrifter but this place is a great inspiration house.

Warm / 181 Mott Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-925-1200
Ryan Roche wool suede hats? Roseanna print and textures? Giada Forte jackets, Mother Jeans, and Raquel Allegra tie-dye? Yes please!

elizabeth street

Coop & Spree / 202 Elizabeth Street. New York, NYC 10012 / 917-475-1723
They basically have the best denim selection (Mother, AG, One Teaspoon) and carry some pretty cool clothes  (Milly, Helmut Lang, LNA, Kempner).

Steven Alan / 230 Elizabeth Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-343-7974
Besides the Steven Alan button up shirts and slightly high waisted slacks I tend to come back here for, I love the assortment of brands they carry (Hope, Acne, APC, Engineered Garments) not to mention, the darling Building Block bucket bags.

prince street

Feit / 2 Prince Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-226-8600
We're talking remarkable quality and craftsmanship when it comes to Feit. The simplicity is what I first fell in love with, then the fact that these beautiful vegetable dyed leather colors age every so richly over time as you break it in on your own. I know we're talking clothes today but these guys were worth the mentioning.

ElevenParis / 6 Prince Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-966-3856
Besides the street vibe you already get walking into the store, Eleven Paris has some pretty sweet sweatshirts that are cropped at just the right length in addition to some leather pieces and t-shirt collaborations I'm not opposed to.

Sandro / 8 Prince Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-226-3226
I find myself coming back to Sandro all the time. It's something about the French fit that works for me. Generally, they've just got some good pieces whether it'd be leather, dresses or tops. Definitely don't miss their end of season sales because you're always bound to find some steals.

Maje / 10 Prince Street. New York, NY 10012 / 212-226-0426
Similar to Sandro, Maje also houses some great pieces overall (they are sister brands after all). The brand is a bit more glamorous than Sandro but there definitely are some impressive finds.

Han Kjøbenhavn / 27 Prince Street. New York, NY 10012
I love my Scandinavians and I love my Han Kjøbenhavn. It's a mens store I visit often to dig up what new things they may have brought out that a small girl like myself could possibly pull off. I guess it doesn't help that my last name is Han and I like sweatshirts, beanies, and laptop cases that say Han on it.

Ina / Prince Street. New York, NY 10012 /
I mentioned I'm not much of a thrifter but stores like Ina have some pretty mean outerwear I may not be opposed to second-handing once in a blue moon. You have to dig well though because most of the good stuff is probably hiding within the racks.
