Saks Fifth Avenue “Holiday in July”
Holiday in July. Yeah, I think it's a bit early to be thinking about the upcoming holiday season in this New York summer heat. But then again, it'll be December any minute now considering how fast 2015 has already gone by. And because it's never too late to plan ahead, I wanted to fill you in on what I saw at Saks Fifth Avenue's holiday preview so you're in the know when you start putting together your holiday shopping list.
Besides a melange of bedazzled evening gowns and plunging necklines which, if you know me by now, have never really been my forte, expect to see a whole lot of luxe fur and fine leather goods. Fur will be scattered throughout the home department with luxury items like the fox fur blanket exclusive to Saks, cashmere pillows by Brunello Cucinelli and Adrienne Landou's fur pom pom key chains, in addition to the shoe department pieces like IKKI's rabbit fur boots and Marni's sock friendly sandals so you've got some options to play with there. Anything with fur makes for some real luxurious gift items so keep these in mind for some of the more “expensive” people in your lives.
If you're leaning towards something with color, Fendi did some fun things with shoes called the monster skate shoes. They're the kind of shoes that will give monochrome outfits just the right amount of pop. They come in two different colorways, black with red and red with pink. Other fun holiday giftables include Charlotte Olympia's cat nap set, Stella McCartney's metallic shark iphone case (my personal favorite) and Edie Parker's flavia clutch (they're shaped like candy wrappers). Note that the monster skate shoes and the flavia clutch are both exclusive to Saks.
Lastly, don't forget to browse the mens floor. Personally, I'm a big advocate of mens accessories as I find them to be sleeker, smarter and well just...a whole lot more functional. So what I find myself doing a lot of times is a brisk walk through the mens floor from one end to the other with my eyes peeled for anything in that space that appears to be a clutch, portfolio case, card case or anything of the like. So when my eyes locked on Saks' in house line of fine quality leather goods for men, I stopped to investigate and am here to tell you that there will be some beautiful leather products--wallets and portfolio cases--on the floor this holiday, all of which I learned are made in Italy by the same people who make some of the finest leather products in the world.
